What can I use the hall for?

Stocksmoor Village Hall offers a large, flexible space with great facilities. It lends itself perfectly to parties, celebrations, family gatherings, community and social events, meetings, workshops, and musical and stage productions. You name it and we will try our very best to accommodate your event.

What facilities does it have?

The main hall is a large space you can tailor to your event, with a large central dance floor and an optional stage. There are a number of tables available which can be set up for an event serving food.

The building offers:

  • on-site level car park with disabled parking provision
  • plenty of additional unrestricted parking along Station Road
  • easy access with a ramp for wheelchairs and pushchairs, with a large entrance and double doors
  • large dance floor in the main area of the hall, with an additional stage area if required
  • fully equipped modern kitchen including 2 electric ovens, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, plumbed-in hot water heater and kettles
  • use of all crockery, cutlery, utensils, mugs and glasses
  • kitchen with a large serving hatch opening directly onto the main hall
  • modern toilet facilities including a disabled toilet
  • baby changing facilities
  • use of all tables and chairs

How big is the hall, and how many people can it hold?

The main space measures 123 square metres, or 14 metres by 8.8 metres. The hall can accommodate up to 100 people depending on the layout used:

  • up to 100 people standing
  • up to 80 people seated as an audience (theatre style) without a stage
  • up to 70 people seated as an audience (theatre style) with a stage
  • up to 70 people for a buffet-style meal

How long can I hire the hall for?

Stocksmoor Village Hall can be hired for a one-off event or on a regular basis. It is available by the hour, as well as by the half day, full day or evening.

The bookings manager will be happy to help with your enquiry.

What is included in the hire charge?

The hire charge includes use of the main hall and all tables and chairs. It also includes use of the kitchen to make hot drinks using the kettles, and to make sandwiches and cold party food.

Two optional extras are charged separately:

  • use of the stage — a one-off fee of £15
  • use of the kitchen appliances — an additional charge of £15

How do I open up the hall and lock up afterwards?

The hall has a key holder who lives very close by and will provide you with a key to open up. They will make arrangements with you for returning the key once your event has finished.

Is alcohol allowed?

The hall is not licensed. You may bring your own alcohol to your event provided it is not sold.

If you do wish to sell alcohol to your guests you will need to apply for a Temporary Events Notice from Kirklees Council, which allows you to carry out a “licensable activity” on unlicensed premises. A copy of the licence will need to be provided when you make your booking.

When is the hall available?

Stocksmoor Village Hall is available to hire during the week and at weekends, in the morning, afternoon or evening. It is even available every day throughout the Christmas and New Year period.

Some slots are taken by our regular classes and groups — the groups and classes timetable shows when those run. To check whether the hall is free for your date, send a booking enquiry and the bookings manager will come back to you.

There is no public calendar — the diary is kept by the bookings manager, so the quickest way to find out about your date is to ask.

Send an enquiry with the date and roughly what you are planning and you will get an answer, with a price, by email.

Enquiries are answered monday to thursday, 10am to 4pm.
